Salve,

I attended the meeting and read the resulting guidelines.
I would like to draw your attention to some issues which I believe have been neglected.

In information technology, data and the value it brings, intrinsic and as a potential expressed by the intersection of different measurements of the same variable in space and time, they constitute the heritage on which to develop better technologies as well as more effective and efficient choices.

All that can be measured, can be played.

In a technological context where the adjective “smart” is the key word most used and understood as the ability to enter data detected and generated by sensors and actuators into the network, it becomes STRATEGIC to understand WHERE the data go and WHO will manage them.

Continuing to use technology developed EXCLUSIVELY by American companies, with ENGINEERED operating systems to collect data , analyze and USE them, remaining helpless in the face of this fact can be a fatal mistake for our competitive capacity and even for the stability of the constituent values of a free and democratic society.

To RETURN to really compete it is advisable to start developing solutions and technologies capable of achieving “PRIVACY and SECURITY BY DESIGN”.

If the small incentives, medium and large companies continue to fuel only the development of technology that exploits the infrastructure of smartphone operating systems ( Android-Google e iOS-Apple ) which are engineered to collect data for the purpose of profiling which aims to increase the profit margin of those who offer advertising to the detriment of those who produce and have a permanent establishment IN and IN THE TERRITORY ( paying taxes !!!!), the condition for unfair competition is substantiated.

This FACT has contributed in a decisive way to the economic crisis of a nation where manufacturing and the ability to innovate and differentiate are written in our DNA..

There is no smart city without smart buildings and smart homes.

MA, if smart is synonymous with indiscriminate and continuous collection of user data even in the privacy of homes, it is better to start thinking about an ALTERNATIVE technology that gives the desired benefits but that is faithful and does not build the conditions to increase the power of a few unscrupulous multinationals.

The rights of citizens and institutions themselves cannot be bargaining chips to fuel an ABERRATION of technology.

We can and MUST start thinking about and implementing a technology that allows respect for rights and the creation of added value that brings wealth IN and on the territory….failing that we will be destined to become a small province to be squeezed to feed the coffers of American multinationals.

It is not demagogy, but an observation of how current technology is working.
We still have time , but it is necessary to CHANGE COURSE to avoid an announced catastrophe.

Big data and cross-data analysis are welcome, but that to do so are subjects who protect and give value to the territory and not predatory operators ready to empty the territory of added value and competitive capabilities.

Thanks for the attention
Friendliness

Salve,

I also participated in this round table.

The points proposed are all valid, in my opinion they do not pivot on a fundamental element to COMPETE on equal terms and with necessary protective elements in a global market: the PATENTS.

Without, our creativity will be exploited by whom, having greater economies of scale and laughable labor costs than ours, will be able to build a formidable production machine in terms of unfair competition and the ability to displace our innovative ideas and productions.

All this will inevitably lead to industrial dwarfism and to be relegated to remain artisans due to the inability to grow as real industries..

In order to build an ENVIRONMENT conducive to the creation of jobs and competitive industrial realities and standard bearer of MADE IN ITALY ( and MADE IN LAZIO, MADE IN ROMA ) it is necessary to reinforce the patent culture and the incentives to protect oneself to enter the global market with UNIQUE distinctive elements and head held high, because not only able to compete, but to grow and become a LEADER.
Thanks for the attention

Best regards
