Cloud …falling behind is not always a sign of immaturity and backwardness!

This time I was drawn to this article ( Europe is behind in Cloud computing ) written by Carlo Mazzucchelli on Computer Business Review Italy.

… more than anything else surprised by the series of adjectives used and elements detected to describe the situation of the cloud in Europe: “Europe blocked by backwardness, conservatism, poor knowledge of cloud solutions, widespread ignorance, widespread immaturity, absence of corporate culture, impediment to innovation and growth”.

well yes! We are the third world of ICT evolution….it would seem the conclusion a reader could reach, ma…

There is a but!

Probably the analysts and journalists who offer this view, they think, they write ( but they usually do little ) like the standard bearers of the cloud: the OTT.

For their vision and “business model” ( how to increase your ROI ) , the real step forward is no longer to go and find and “infer” data valid for the profiling of behaviors and choices, through espionage on the”use of communication services and content offering, generously offered “for free”.

To reduce management costs and use algorithms that replace analysts and operators, it is sufficient to become co-owners of all the data of individual users….come?!

Offering cloud “for free” so as to find all the data directly on their servers.

Then the legitimate doubt that arises is : ” but we are really backward, or perhaps we have sensed the dangers that exist and prefer to keep our knowledge, our data, our plans, our visions and our intuitions, inside house”?

I lean towards the second hypothesis, and I'm glad to be judged “backward”…as well as most European companies.

With the PRISM scandal, a process of awareness is starting that will amplify this trend. IMHO.
