Privacy in the house: an inalienable right…unless there is consent!

Privacy in the house: an inalienable right…unless there is consent!

The dangers to the privacy of individuals in the living room of their homes are very high with technology “wild”.

In other words, if you don't harness service providers like OTT and Telco, there is a risk of making the end of mobile phone users: abused without any limit in their privacy for everything that passes through these portable tools.

The Guarantor for Privacy has established very precise rules and objective limits that are difficult to do “expand interpretability”: their consent is required to profile the behavior of users! In this interesting article some food for thought.

We are facing a new era where electronics will allow us to transform homes into intelligent and experienced environments, repeat the pattern on a larger scale until we reach smart cities.

Such a paradigm , the current state, is overturned: projects are being proposed and large sums of money are being invested to make rational and intelligent choices and constraints in the city, without creating a culture and a "friendly" use within the homes of citizens.

The digital divide is a phenomenon that characterizes territories and transversally different age groups.

Create those conditions , SHARED and AWARE, to receive technology as USEFUL and FRIEND, would allow an almost unanimous participation that would accelerate a process of acceptance and use without equal ... but this dynamic would not be controllable by the usual 4 crafty and for this reason the vision is reversed, imposing intelligent systems from above and on public structures ...

Returning to the bombshell on the problem of privacy inside homes, large ICT companies and specifically OTT and Telco are preparing to launch tools equipped with sensors capable of receiving voice and gesture commands, but at the same time, potentially capable of spying ( see Smart TV, XBOX ONE and all the platforms and projects that will come like Apple's iTV, Google TV, the projects of our local Telecom Italia with cubovision etc.. etc.)

This time the legislator, ascertained the abuse that is perpetrated with mobile phones, it is anticipating the problem and imposing on service and product suppliers, a logic that is as clear as it is finally respectful of the rights of citizens as consumers and purchasers of potentially intrusive services and products: the behavior of "spectators-actors" can only be profiled with explicit consent.

Let's imagine a family in front of the TV at home that is followed in the choices of what they want to see, who is spied on while giving voice commands to express satisfaction with what she sees or is making a purchase of a product or service in real time, or which is identified to follow arguments inherent in the personal sphere as a religion, policy, sex, ethical choices or simple opinions ...

The dangers are too much not to protect users and prevent misbehavior, illegal and even dangerous that could be generated by unscrupulous subjects: an example could clarify the situation.

Let's imagine a person who thinks he is suffering from a serious condition and begins to search for information about this potential disease, on available medicines and any medical treatments ... on the other hand, a service provider who spies on this data and who aggregates them and orders them to be resold to interested parties such as health insurance, private clinics, medici.

A gruesome and dangerous scenario where the subject would find himself "without a logical explanation" a refusal by the insurance company to renew the policy, a series of advertisements targeting treatments and clinics, and a potential unexpected dismissal.

We are at an epochal crossroads , where legislators and institutions must make fundamental decisions for the DEMOCRATIC and FREE future of all humanity.

They cannot leave to the control of a few private subjects a virtually infinite amount of data which would give unlimited control not only on individuals but on entire communities and nations.
